The Religion of Diets and
The Fruit They May or May Not Bear.
Coming from a family involved with farming and the food industry, the last place I thought I would end up was investigating food; i.e. DIETS.

In fact, I had tried to avoid the diet issue like the bubonic plague - since I always thought Fleming's, Sir Alexander Fleming to be specific, had done enough in infectious disease. But having been on the Physician Cholesterol Education Faculty for the American Heart Association beginning in the mid-1970s and once I had developed and presented the ITIRD theory [https://www.flemingmethod.com/] at the AHA meetings in Dallas, TX in 1994, I should have known there was no escaping the field.

The reality is anything you put into your body - food, water, alcohol, the air you breath (including what you smoke/inhale; unless you're former President Clinton who claims he never inhaled), medications you swallow - including those that don't require a prescription (vitamins, minerals and a plethora of other all too easily obtainable compounds), or inject into your body or attach to your body to release the chemicals across your skin - has an impact on your body.

Your body will react to what you put into it, one way or another. This can be positive, neutral or negative, depending upon a host of factors; many of which I covered in the ITIRD theory.

All too often people are willing to continue to put into their body that which they know are harmful, depending upon Medical Science to solve the problem, and complaining about medicine, doctors, et cetera, when Medicine can't undo the damage they caused to their body.

When I began my medical training, many people thought you couldn't reverse some of these chronic ITIR diseases, like heart disease and diabetes.
We now know - and hopefully you've been reading the published research I've included on this website as well as the https://www.flemingmethod.com/ website, where you can see that I have been involved in much of this research - that you can reverse many of these problems. The only question is whether you will do what you need to do to play your role in reversing what can be reversed.

You see, Medicine has advanced some distance from its inception, but it is not magic. Our treatments work by biological pathways. These are pathways we don't get to make up as we go. The medicines we use as well as our surgical interventions work as a result of those pathways.

As you hopefully saw in the link to the https://www.flemingmethod.com/ website, many of these pathways are pathways that you activate. Like a spider's web, most of the time you get into problems when you tug too hard on one area of the web or multiple areas of the web. If you don't tug too hard or on too many strands of the web, the spider might not know you're there and you can escape unharmed.
The same is true for your overall health. If you don't pull too hard on any one strand (cholesterol, homocysteine, lipoprotein(a), infection, et cetera), or if you don't pull on too many strands all at once (which occurred for many people during the COVID pandemic - you remember the term comorbidities or cofactors), then your body's homeostasis will kick in and protect you from yourself and your environment.

But fail to take precautions, fail to take care of your body, take the approach of putting something in your mouth to treat something else you put in your mouth (or lungs or ...) and you will ultimately pay the price. Homeostasis will kick in and you will be the one to pay for it.

Which brings us to the topic of this page - DIETS - or better explained, the impact of the food we eat and the lifestyle we live, with lifestyle being all the other factors I discussed above along with exercise, stress reduction, et cetera.

Over the last 4-decades I have spent endless hours investigating and eventually measuring the impact that DIETS have on our health - including the realms of heart and vascular diseases, cancer, diabetes and infection.

The research, some of which I have shared on previous pages, has clearly shown that using weight or blood tests alone, gives you little information about what is happening inside your body at the tissue level where the disease and ultimately the cause or your illness or death is happening.

The truth is, weight and blood tests, only tell you what's happening once the problem has become severe enough to spill out of the tissue and be noticed elsewhere in the body - not exactly very subtle, but there was a time it was all that we had.
This was one of the critical reasons I developed FMTVDM - to know what is actually happening at the tissue level, where changes in regional blood flow and metabolism are occurring as the disease begins and takes a foothold in your body.

The following published research papers provide just some of the information that I have obtained by quantitatively measuring what is happening inside your body as the disease develops and ultimately leads to illness or death.

As the "much needed healthcare policy" link shows you, I have no problem with further research being carried out on whatever diet and lifestyle people are interested in conducting; but, the answer to your questions does NOT lie in weight or blood tests - it's at the tissue level.

The only question you need to ask yourself when looking at future research, is whether this is being done scientifically, or whether you are participating in a version of The Hunger Games. If so, May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor.
