Infection, Bacteria, and the Measurable Truth

In 1994, at the American Heart Association Conference in Dallas, Dr. Richard M. Fleming introduced a theory that would redefine vascular disease.

Originally—staying true to being a physicist—he called it the Fleming "Unified Theory" of Vascular Disease. In later years, he changed to name to the InflammoThrombotic Immunologic Response (ITIR) Disease (ITIRD) Theory in keeping with the components of the process itself— a continuum of inflammation, thrombosis, and immune activation that underlies heart disease, cancer, infection and most disease states.

Today, that theory is no longer theory.

It is measurable.

It is reproducible.

It is sovereign.

1. Bacterially Aggravated Atherosclerosis (BAA): The Beginning of Measurable Infection

In the late 1990s, Fleming published the first scientific documentation of bacteria’s role in coronary artery disease (CAD). He called it Bacterially Aggravated Atherosclerosis (BAA) — and it changed everything.

📄 Publication: "The Fleming Unified Theory of Vascular Disease" (Angiology)

  • Introduced the eight interacting groups of factors causing vascular disease

  • Defined BAA as a measurable contributor to CAD

  • Linked bacterial infection, inflammation, and immune response to heart attacks and strokes

2. CRP and the Limits of Blood Tests

While blood tests like C-reactive protein (CRP) were once hoped to define inflammation, Fleming’s research showed they are crude, nonspecific, and insufficient.

📄 Publication: "Using C-Reactive Protein as a Marker of BAA" (Journal of the American College of Angiology)

  • CRP may be elevated in many conditions — but cannot measure ITIRD

  • FMTVDM imaging revealed thymus activation and coronary blood flow changes missed by CRP

  • Antibiotic treatment normalized CRP, eliminated thymus activity, and improved CAD — all measured by FMTVDM

3. ASPS Case Report: Gastritis, Infection, and CAD

📄 Publication: "Bacterial Gastritis Aggravates Atherosclerosis" (Acta Scientific Pharmaceutical Sciences)

  • A 29-year-old male with gastritis and elevated CRP underwent FMTVDM imaging

  • Antibiotic treatment resolved angina, normalized CRP, and improved myocardial perfusion

  • Further demonstrating that infection can trigger ITIRD and CAD — and that FMTVDM can measure it and direct treatment based upon FMTVDM measured response to treatment

4. COVID-19: The ITIRD Pandemic

When SARS-CoV-2 emerged in 2019, it was not just a viral pandemic. It was an ITIRD pandemic.

FMTVDM® was deployed to measure the immune response, inflammation, and treatment efficacy — in real time.

📄 Publication: "FMTVDM Quantitative Nuclear Imaging Finds Three Treatments for SARS-CoV-2" (BJSTR)

  • Studied 1800 patients across 23 sites in 7 countries

  • Measured Ferritin, IL-6, and FMTVDM to track infection severity and treatment response

  • Identified three treatment regimens with 99.83% success in reducing ITIRD and hospital stays

📄 Publication: "Preliminary Results of Tocilizumab and Interferon a-2ß Treatment of SARS-CoV-2" (JCMI)

  • Seven patients failed outpatient HCQ and zinc

  • FMTVDM measured corona virus pneumonia (CVP) inflammation before and after treatment

  • Tocilizumab and Interferon a-2ß reduced inflammation and improved outcomes

📄 Publication: "Case Study with Rx Protocol" (JCMI)

  • Defined a full treatment protocol for COVID-19 based on FMTVDM measurement

  • Demonstrated remote training of nuclear labs during pandemic scenarios

  • Validated the ITIRD framework for infectious disease

5. The Sovereign Standard™ for Infection

FMTVDM is the only method that:

  • Quantifies the ITIRD continuum

  • Measures inflammation, thrombosis, and immune activation

  • Tracks treatment response for bacterial, viral, and inflammatory diseases

  • Works across heart disease, cancer, and infection

  • Enables remote training and deployment during global crises

This is not just about COVID.

It is about all infectious diseases.

It is about measurable medicine.

6. The Iceberg Beneath the Surface

Part I showed that blood tests and weight changes miss CAD.

Part II showed that qualitative imaging misses cancer.

Part III shows that CRP and clinical guessing miss infection.

FMTVDM measures what others cannot.

It quantifies the ITIRD continuum across all diseases.

It measures true treatment response.

It empowers nations to lead.

7. Select Nation Status (SNS): The Global Leadership Arc

FMTVDM is limited only by those who use it.

That is why SNS vetting is rigorous.

Only countries that embrace FMTVDM measurable medicine, reproducibility, and sovereign stewardship will lead the next era.

This is not just a diagnostic tool.

It is a covenant of reproducibility.

It is a ceremonial standard.

It is the FMTVDM Sovereign Standard™.

8. The FMTVDM Measurable Era Begins

This is the final entry in the FMTVDM Sovereign Standard™ Series:

  1. Part I — Heart Disease

  2. Part II — Cancer

  3. Part III — Infection

Together, they form the foundation of FMTVDM measurable medicine.

Together, they define the ITIRD continuum.

Together, they launch the measurable era.

The iceberg is vast.

The standard is sovereign.

The FMTVDM era is measurable.
